PRESS
We've been lucky to enjoy extensive coverage in the local and national press, in magazines and on BBC Countryfile.
For an overview of Black Shed, it's aims, ambitions and how it works, please see our About page.
Paul has written a column for The Sherborne Times for the last three years and you can find all of these on our Blog.
He is more than happy to write features and articles for any format.
We have an extensive archive of hi-res photos of the Farm and it's flowers.
Contact or call us here to discuss your ideas, we'll look forward to speaking to you.
Visit Black Shed
We welcome everyone to visit us at Black Shed Flower Farm, we're open all year! You might not want to visit us in the freezing winter months but from March to November there's plenty to see and you can buy our wonderful fresh flowers right from the farm
• Come and visit us! We welcome everyone! We’re right on the A30, just east of lovely Sherborne.
We currently have 2 acres of flower beds, full of a season's worth of speciality cut flowers and foliage.
There will an opportunity to buy or pick fresh or dried flowers. There's always someone on hand to create a special bouquet for you too.
The fantastic Blackmarsh Farm Cafe is open all year from Monday to Saturday, serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and teas, featuring fresh vegetables and produce grown in the Blackmarsh Farm Kitchen Garden.
We're easy to find on the A30 just outside Sherborne. We have ample parking and easy access to our gently sloping fields, which have well maintained grass paths. Dogs on leads are most welcome, as are children, of all ages! Entry is free
• Garden Tours and Talks
Over the years, we've welcomed countless Gardening Groups and Societies, Women's Institutes and the good folk of the U3A. We've had international travellers with organised garden tours and residents of local care homes, children with special needs, everyone is most welcome.
Tours and talks usually last an hour or so, there's lots to see and lots of questions to answer. You can book a floral demonstration, or a more specific workshop, where we go into greater depth on a subject, such as Dahlias or Perennials for Cut Flowers.
If you're interested in booking your club in for a visit, just use our contact form, phone, or pop in.
• Talks and Demonstrations
We've given illustrated talks and demonstrations to Clubs, Organisations and Societies all over the country. All we need is a good projector and a keen and eager audience. We discuss our lives as flower farmers and florists, how we grow the wonderful and unusual plants and the special events and occasions that we've flowered.
Our talks are full of hints and tips, the best varieties to grow, what to grow where and when.
If you like we can combine a demonstration with the talk. We could create a seasonal fresh or dried flower bouquet which you could raffle to your members, very popular this!
If you'd like to book a talk for your club or society, just use our contact form, phone, or pop in.
• NGS Charity Days
It's been a great honour to open our gardens twice a year to raise money for the National Garden Scheme. We've had visitors from all over the country, as well as locals and it's always a joy to meet such keen garden visitors. Our team are all on hand to answer your questions and to show you round. You will find the dates of our NGS open days on their website.
