Product Details

Fibigea clypeata is grown for it's extraordinary seed heads. 60cm branches of soft glaucous green seed pods form after the rather undistinguished yellow brassica flowers. These then turn a golden brown, both lovely in their own right but if the ripe seed pods are peeled like Honesty, they reveal the most exquisite shiny transparent 'lunettes'. A short lived perennial, it's hardy and easy to please in full sun or a tunnel. Fresh seed germinates well, this was gathered, as with all the Black Shed seed, in 2024.

Sow on arrival in good gritty seed compost
